Oxidized
bitumen
What it is and how it is produced
One method of producing special bitumens involves oxidizing vacuum distillation residues by blowing air at high temperatures (230-260°C) under controlled conditions for a set amount of time. As a result of the above process, the consistency of the bitumen and its associated properties undergo profound changes.
These bitumens are particularly suitable for uses other than road paving due to their lower sensitivity to heat, excellent performance at high temperatures, and exceptional resistance to chemicals.
They are used in waterproofing and civil roofing, hydraulic works, brick production for industrial applications, protective and anti-corrosive coatings, electrical, thermal, and soundproofing insulation, and bituminous paints, mastics, and inks.
Alma Petroli produces oxidized bitumens within the Ring and Ball range (55-130°C) and the Penetration range (5-60 dmm). These products meet the classes set out in EN 13304, the main classes required by the market, or clients’ specific requirements
With decades of production experience and ongoing R&D, Alma Petroli can supply products that meet its clients’ specific requirements and develop customized solutions with them.
