Laboratory
The refinery’s chemical laboratory operates 24/7 all year round, performing both in-process and quality controls; it also provides support for the research and development of new products.
In addition to conventional instrumentation used in the analysis of the chemical-physical properties of crude oil, distillates and bitumen, the laboratory also has state-of-the-art analytical equipment for rheological testing of bitumen. This has enabled Alma Petroli to become an active part of a small group of laboratories throughout Europe (private and university-based) that focus on the study, inter-calibration and standardisation of analytical techniques.
To underline the Company’s important commitment to innovation, the research and development activities supported by the laboratory account for around 50% of the analyses performed.
Quality control of raw materials and finished products
All incoming raw materials and products released for sale by the refinery undergo a series of controls and checks to ensure production suitability and traceability.
Our ISO 9001certified laboratory regularly participates in industry-specific inter-laboratory circuits, both national and international.
All analytical equipment are subject to a preventive maintenance and calibration plan.
Alma Petroli guarantees that the products placed on the market comply with the reference standards and commercial specifications.
Third party analyses
The Alma Petroli laboratory also performs analytical activities on behalf of third parties, assessing the quality of petroleum-based products and bitumen.
